Project Invest in Ability (Projeto Investir na Capacidade – PIC)

The municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia in partnership with the Portuguese Association for Gifted Children and the School of Education Paula Frassinetti, implements the Project Invest in Ability – V.N.Gaia (PIC – VNGaia) to provide a response to children with exceptional or superior abilities, in order to guide and stimulate them to fully develop their potential and promote their personal and social well-being.

In the current school year – 2018/2019 – 35 children, aged between 7 and 14 years, attend the PIC-VNGaia.

The PIC-VNGaia takes place weekly on saturday mornings. Each saturday the sessions are divided into three blocks of activities related to Science, Arts, Humanities or Physical Activity /Performances, developed in a group format in order to stimulate Creativity, Critical Sense, Self-Awareness and Interpersonal Relationships.

These activities are prepared by a team composed of qualified teachers (program monitors) and a psychologist from the Municipality. Such activities take place mainly at the Manuel António Pina School Center, but sessions are also held at other facilities, such as the Gaia Municipal Library.
